A Runaway – A plucky action was witnessed near the Railway Station on Saturday morning. A young horse attached to a milk trap, belonging to Mr Thomas Jones, Bach y Rhew was frightened by a passing train in the Smithfoeld and bolted up Station Road. A number of drivers of hackney carriages saw the animal coming, and rushed towards it to try and stop it. They were unsuccessful until Mr Tom Phillips, Penglaise Terrace rushed in and getting hold of the animals head, succeeded in stopping it’s mad career. But for Mr Phillips promptitude and pluck the horse would have broken through Alexander Road, where there was considerable traffic, and much damage to life and limb could have been caused. His action is deserving of the highest praise. Beyond a quantity of spilt milk no damage was done.
